Frequently Asked Questions

  • Live class meetings are held via Zoom!

We utilize two different platforms for our classes-- Outschool and WordPlay's own home platform. The classes are identical regardless of whom the official “host” is!

  • Our classes are hosted on one of two platforms-- Outschool or here on WordPlay.

After enrollment, you'll receive an email with all the information on getting you set up to attend class.

  • After thousands of students, we've settled on a firm "camera-on-and-on-camera" policy for all of our classes. This is to ensure a safe and engaging learning environment for all involved. Unfortunately, we are not able to make exceptions to this policy. Please be sure your learner is prepared to have their camera ready to go at the beginning of class!

  • We’ve (very temporarily!) opened up many of our weekly, subscription style classes for trials! You’ll see FREE TRIAL by the listing if the class you’re interested in is eligible.

  • All classes are refundable up to one week before class begins. After that time, we’re unable to process any refunds.

  • We encourage you to support your learner however is necessary— but also to make sure they’re in the “driver’s seat” during class time!

We recommend adults try to remain off camera as much as possible, and allow the bulk of the interaction during class to be between the teacher and the learner rather than the teacher and the adult.

Worried that your kid won’t fully participate because they’re nervous? That’s okay! We will meet them where they are and work on building their confidence as class continues. Please allow us the opportunity to reach your child and connect with them!

  • No!

Well, mostly no. We try to ensure learners are in classes with their peers-- so if a learner is dramatically younger or older than the rest of the class, we might recommend a different section or class.

  • No-- spots must be purchased for each individual learner. That said, we do offer sibling discounts! You’ll be able to see those when you check out.

Siblings are welcome to share the same computer, provided they’re both registered for the class. That said, we’ve found this rarely works particularly well, and encourage learners to have their own screens if possible.

  • We try to have at least four learners enrolled in any given class. We will always let you know if we're short on enrollments and the class is at risk of being canceled! We also may try to combine classes in those situations to ensure they go forward.

We also try to cap classes at about eight students; we keep this number a little flexible in case there's a sibling or friend who wants to join a learner. We don't want to keep anyone out!

  • Yes! We’re an approved vendor in Florida, Utah, New Hampshire, Arizona, West Virginia, Arkansas and North Carolina. We are also set up to accept payment via ClassWallet.

Don’t see your state or microschool on that list? Reach out! We’re happy to do the legwork to get on your state’s approved vendor list.
