Reading Comprehension and Response Paragraph Writing
$19 per session
In this weekly class, students will practice reading texts and crafting well-written responses! This class is best for students ages 11-16, though all are welcome.
Each week, the teacher will display and read aloud a paragraph from an article or book. Together, the class will discuss the paragraph, noting details and purpose! The teacher will then pose a question similar to one students might find on a short answer portion of a test. Together, the class will work through structuring a response paragraph that answers the question.
Then, it's the students' turn! The teacher will display and read aloud a second paragraph from the same article or book, then give learners five to ten minutes to read, analyze, and create their own responses. Students are invited to share their paragraphs at the end of class to receive constructive feedback from the teacher, so they can continue to grow and improve as writers and readers!
