Songwriter’s Intensive

$87 for four sessions

Every great artist has a sound you can recognize within seconds of hitting play, and that sound isn’t magic. It’s built on specific choices about structure, hooks, rhyme, and storytelling, and those choices can be studied, learned, and used in your own writing.

In this four-week intensive, teens spend a month inside the songwriting of one major artist, breaking down what makes their songs work. With the support of a published author-teacher, students then write two complete, original songs in that artist’s style, developing them through weekly homework, revision, and in-class workshops.

Lots of young writers have notebooks full of half-finished lyrics. This class is about getting to the end: drafting a song, revising it, hearing feedback, and polishing it until it’s finished. Along the way, students build a real songwriter’s process they can use on every song they write afterward.

Upcoming artists: Ariana Grande (January), Sabrina Carpenter (February), and Taylor Swift (March).

Musical experience is helpful but not required; students can approach the class entirely as lyricists.
